Network Technician Training Overview

A person who is curious about the inner workings of computer networks may want to consider becoming a computer networking technician. These professionals are computer support specialists who install and maintain local- and wide-area networks and Internet servers. The requirements for becoming a networking technician vary; however, professional certification and experience are often the most important factors.
Network Technician covers Cisco CCNA training which teaches the student the ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size routed and switched networks. The course also covers the CompTIA A+ certificatiion.

Courses should include:
  • CompTIA Network+: This course is the sign of a qualified networking professional. This course covers network technologies, installation and configuration, media and topologies, management, and security.
  • Cisco CCNA Network Associate: This course teaches the student how to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size routed and switched networks, including the implementation and verification of connections to remote sites in a WAN. This new curriculum includes basic mitigation of security threats, introduction to wireless networking concepts and terminology, and performance-based skills. This new curriculum also includes (but is not limited to) the use of these protocols: IP, Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Serial Line Interface Protocol Frame Relay, Routing Information Protocol Version 2 (RIPv2),VLANs, Ethernet, and access control lists (ACLs).
